Mechanism of arrhythmogenesis

Abstract
Arrhythmia is associated with complex background mechanisms of reentry, automaticity, and triggered activity. Arrhythmia results from interplay among these 3 mechanisms, based on ion channel function and calcium dynamics. In addition to cellular electrophysiology, conductance between cardiomyocytes and interstitial tissue, such as gap junctions or fibrosis, and mechanoelectrical feedback may also play important roles in arrhythmogenesis.
